Banks are moving into the political arena, using the power of finance to bully the British people into accepting New Labour's Socialist ideology. Gone are the days when banks epitomised a rather stiff upper lip image of British calm and respectability, when the only thing required to be socially acceptable, was money. Now they are forcing undemocratic left wing thought control on it's customers by first, denying an official Nationalist party the right to have accounts and now, the Co-operative Bank have ordered a Christian Group to close it's accounts forthwith.

So what was the heinous crime committed by this organisation called Christian Voice that prompted the Co-op to recoil in horror? Well, according to their Ethical Policy Manager, Christian Voice had said, "homosexuality is a sin" and, this Chritian organisation's declared aim is to 'promoting traditional family life'. Apparently Christian Voice linked homosexuals with paedophilia and say, "most homosexual men seek sexual encounters in public conveniences and their innate corruptness makes them unfit for the police force". So that was sufficient for the Co-op to pitch them and their accounts, into the night. Not surprising really, when it is said the same bank helps to finance Gay Parades and is known as the 'Gay Bank'.

It would seem to me that the only thing Christian Voice are guilty of, is telling the truth, in a 'Fire and Brimstone' style preaching. A style sadly missed by many. However, if they have contravened one of the numerous new laws protecting minority interests, (too many to dodge these days), police action is bound to follow, in fact they will fall on them like a ton of bricks. So why have banks suddenly become self appointed thought police, rummaging through, religious and political backgrounds of their customers before deciding who is fit, or not fit, to have money in a bank account?.

Once started on that slippery slope, they should be scrupulously honest in deciding who is politically correct or socially acceptable, but are they?. For example, most civilised people are horrified by, the stoning to death of alleged adulterous women, 'honour killings' of young children by parents, murder of innocents by suicide bombers and the ritual slaughter of animals, all carried out by members of the Muslim faith. Islam also condemns Homosexuality. Therefore, will that bank close all Muslim accounts on the grounds of their apparent religious hatred and intolerance of gay people? Of course not! It's just as ridiculous as closing down Christian Voice, however, they can bully a small Christian group with impunity but closing Muslim accounts would put the 'Ethnical Manager' and his pompous bank in the dock on race hate offences..

I have the impression that their much vaunted "Ethical Policy", is an attempt to promote themselves as a modern day thinking bank, making sure they appear top of the political pile in today's "Cool Britannia".

It's a very sad day for a once great organisation like the Co-op but good publicity for Christian Voice, because I, for one, had never heard of them, until the Co-op acted so rashly.
