Futher to our item yesterday on Gunter Deckart's attemps to get to the
Teheran "Holocaust" conference - we have received the following today:-
Günter
Deckert wishes to attend the Tehran Holocaust Conference as an observer
- not as a speaker, but German authorities have decided to confiscate
his Passport and hold it until after the conference thereby
effectively preventing him from attending.
Deckert
is appealing to an administrative court but it is difficult to do
anything as the weekend closes in on him.
The
official reason given for this bureaucratic act against Deckert is that
his attendance at the conference will harm the image of the German
state.
What
nonsense! - this act
against Deckert indicates that Germany is not a free and democratic
country - it is a country that has lost the plot.
