Can you imagine a council in any other nation banning themselves from flying their nation's flag at any time of the year? What the hell is the 'Equality Commission'? Would a ban like that be tolerated anywhere else? The USA? Pakistan? Israel? Welcome to Blair's Britain! Lisburn

City Council has been criticised for breaking its own equality policy
by flying the Union Jack all year round.
The Equality Commission found that in 2003 the council decided to limit the flying of the flag to 19 designated days, but changed that policy last May. The Commission has asked the council to revert to its original policy and cut the number of days it displays the flag to the 17 recommended by the Department of the Environment. |
