<>Nationalist Alliance
< style="font-style: italic; font-weight: bold;">National Council meeting Sunday June 12th

The first National Council meeting since the merger with the WNP took place in Blackburn.

The national Organizer, John Wood, paid tribute to the sterling groundwork of Eddy Morrison in the early days of the Alliance.  He, and the National Council wished him well in his well earned break and thanked him for his offer to continue publishing the party magazine, Imperium, and  other party publications.

Before Eddy resigned as National Organiser he had made it known that he wished Kevin Watmough to be appointed National Activities Organizer. Kevin was praised for his tireless work within the WNP and everyone welcomed him in taking up his new position on the National Council.

Joe  Hilton, National Secretary, reported that the sudden influx of several hundred new members from the WNP meant that he had been liaising with the head of security in order to speed up the vetting procedures and that membership cards were being sent out in the immediate future.

Kev Watmough, thrust suddenly into the deep end, had already prepared more placards for the Demo on June 16th when a much bigger turn-out is expected.

The Council made sure that all events scheduled for the next few weeks would be covered as holiday time meant that not everyone would be available for all the events.

However, the Milton Keynes meeting on June 19th, the social in Nottingham on July 2nd and the Brighton meeting on July 9th would be fully staffed and speakers and merchandisers would be attending.

Steve Smith informed the Council of a series of local demonstrations taking place in Burnley under the auspices of the Burnley Residents’ Action Group.  He said that units of the Nationalist Alliance would be on hand to lend support. The demonstration is to oppose plans to close Secondary Modern schools and replace them with new multicultural centres.  Local parents feel strongly about this and they are prepared to make their feelings known. This is an excellent opportunity for the NA to make its presence felt on the streets. Anyone wishing to take part, please contact Steve Smith or Sharon Pastou for further details.

The Merchandising Officer, Cathie Parker-Brown, declared that there was a steady supply of badges, key-rings, etc. and continuity was assured.

It was agreed that membership subscriptions should be raised to £10 on joining followed by £5 for renewal. Costs of starter packs and postal charges warrant the increase.

Mick Holmes, National Security Officer stressed the need for vigilance within the party and he and his team are vetting all new applicants.  The National Organizer pointed out to him that there were a few ex-WNP members who would not be considered for membership. A list had been prepared and the Security Officer would be in consultation with the secretary about this.

<>The National Treasurer, Sharon Pastou, reported a healthy state of finances and was preparing to go ahead with the party registration.

The next meeting will be in August when, by which time, it is envisaged that membership would be nearing the 1,000 mark.
