Nine
arrested after masked mob's march against Muslim extremists turns
violent
Nine
people have been arrested after hundreds of anti-Islamist protesters
clashed with police yesterday, May 24th 2009.
The streets of Luton descended
into violence after demonstrators, many hiding their faces behind
balaclavas, brandished England flags and chanted at officers.
Riot: Demonstrators gathered in George Square in
Luton town centre yesterday over the anti-war protest held against the
Royal Anglian Regiment in March
A group
called March for England was said to have organised the rally as a
peaceful protest against Muslim extremists. They were joined by a local
group United People of Luton.
The mob, which included
teenagers and women, held banners with slogans such as 'No Sharia Law
in the UK' and 'Respect our Troops'.
Arrests: A man is detained by police officers
during the riot yesterday
Some
protesters wore masks with the horned face of Sayful Islam, a hardline
Muslim activist in Luton who took part in an anti-war rally in March,
which disrupted a homecoming parade for troops.
But chaos broke out when a crowd
of around 500 ran away from police who had been escorting the protest
along its route, and ran down side streets towards the town centre.
Officers on horseback and police
dogs were deployed, and policemen drew batons to defend themselves.
Masked: A depiction of Sayful Islam
Groups of
young men in balaclavas and England shirts chanted outside the city
centre and one balacava-clad protester held a Rottweiler on a chain,
while others clashed with police in riot gear.
One Asian man was hit across the
face with a banner and left with a bloody nose.
Focus of hate:
Sayful Islam used to be a moderate, middle class Muslim from Luton but
is now a hardline, political agitator
The nine
suspects were in custody today for offences of criminal damage, assault
and public order offences, Bedfordshire Police said.
Police said during the
disturbance three car windscreens were smashed and a window at a take
away restaurant in Chapel Street had been broken.
Last night Luton town centre was
calm as police maintained a presence on the streets.
A spokesman for United People of
Luton, Wayne King, said many people in Luton were concerned and annoyed
that the Muslim community in the town had not taken steps to deal with
Sayful Islam's 'hate-filled preachings'.
The 24-year-old, who wore a
T-shirt with the words 'No surrender to Al-Qaeda' on it, said: 'We
decided enough was enough after the soldiers got heckled as they
marched through the town centre by the Muslim extremists.
'Our community has been racially
attacked for the last 10 years.
'A mosque in the town got set on
fire a few weeks ago and it made national news but churches in Luton
are regularly being set fire to.
'We want laws brought in to stop
preachers of hate operating here.'

Protesters in Luton's city centre yesterday
stormed the streets wearing balaclavas
Luton town centre was busy at the time of
the riot with shoppers enjoying the sunshine.
Many of those who joined in the
march had been drinking in town centre pubs.
Later on, overhead, a police
helicopter monitored the movement of the mob which at one point
appeared to be making in the direction of Bury Park, an area of Luton
where many of the town's Asian population live.

BRITISH CHURCHES TO BE FORCED TO HIRE
HOMOSEXUAL YOUTH WORKERS
LONDON, May 21, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com ) - British churches
will be forced to accept practicing homosexuals or "transsexuals" in
positions as youth workers and similar roles, under upcoming equality
legislation, the government has said. The Labour government's Equality
Bill will prohibit churches from refusing to hire active homosexuals
even if their religion holds such behavior to be sinful, said deputy
equalities minister Maria Eagle.
The legislation is due to come into force next year, and
churches fear that it will force them to act against their religious
convictions in a broad range of areas. Eagle indicated at a conference
called "Faith, Homophobia, Transphobia, & Human Rights" in London,
that the legislation "will cover almost all church employees."
"The circumstances in which religious institutions can
practice anything less than full equality are few and far between," she
told delegates. "While the state would not intervene in narrowly ritual
or doctrinal matters within faith groups, these communities cannot
claim that everything they run is outside the scope of
anti-discrimination law.
"Members of faith groups have a role in making the argument
in their own communities for greater LGBT acceptance, but in the
meantime the state has a duty to protect people from unfair treatment."
The bill allows a religious exemption for roles deemed to be
"for the purposes of an organised religion" but restricts this
definition to those who conduct liturgical celebrations or spend their
time teaching doctrine.
The Daily Telegraph quoted Neil Addison, a Roman Catholic
barrister and expert on religious discrimination law, who said that the
bill will leave churches powerless to defend the fabric of their
organization. "This is a threat to religious identity. What we are
losing is the right for organizations to make free choices," he said
Equality commissioners include the homosexual lobbyist, Ben
Summerskill, the head of the leading British homosexualist activist
group Stonewall. Summerskill has called for churches to be forced to
employ homosexuals and for the police to stop Christians who were
peacefully protesting against 'gay rights' laws outside Parliament.
Tony Grew, a homosexualist activist and the former editor of
PinkNews.co.uk, wrote recently that the Equality Bill will "entrench
gay rights in all aspects of public life." Grew wrote on PinkNews that
the bill will open unprecedented opportunities for homosexuals.
The bill, he said will cover central government departments,
local authorities, education bodies, NHS bodies and the police service,
plus a wide range of other public and private bodies, including
churches and church-run institutions. It will impose the "Equality
Duty" on all organizations providing public services, he said, such as
residential care homes that "would have to consider the needs of
same-sex couples."
POLICE FLY SODOMIST FLAG ACROSS THE UK
"We are determined to show our
support for anyone who feels they have been targeted because of their
individuality."
Then we're certain the police will
want to fly the flag of the White Race -
- as
well as we are being targeted too!

Dozens
of police stations have lowered the Union Flag and replaced it with a
gay rights banner to mark a day of action against homophobia. One
police chief said the rainbow flag demonstrated his force's support for
homosexuals who felt they were victims of prejudice.
But critics warned that it was dangerous for forces to show support for
particular campaigns.
Earlier this year, Britain's most senior policeman ordered his force
not to fly any flags in support of individual groups.
Sir Paul Stephenson, commissioner of the Metropolitan Police,
instructed officers to remove a rainbow flag which had replaced a Union
Flag at Limehouse police station, in East London, to mark Lesbian Gay
Bisexual and Transgender history month.
But elsewhere, four forces flew the gay rights flag at the weekend to
mark International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia - the
prejudice against transsexuals.
Merseyside chief constable, Bernard Hogan-Howe, helped raise one above
his force's Liverpool headquarters, which was lit up with
multi-coloured lights.
And all the force's 41 police stations flew the rainbow flag for the
day, marking the anniversary of the day that the World Health
Organisation removed homosexuality from its list of mental disorders in
1990.
As most stations have only one flagpole, the Union Flag, which they fly
for the rest of the year, had to be lowered.
Peter Fahy, chief constable of Greater Manchester, hoisted the rainbow
flag above his force's headquarters.
Cheshire Constabulary flew it on one of three poles outside its
headquarters. And in Essex it was raised at the force's training
college, in Chelmsford.
Critics believe the gesture could do more harm than good. David Davies,
Tory MP for Monmouth, said: 'Showing support for particular campaigns
is a very dangerous route for the police.
The job of the police is to enforce the law even-handedly and without
prejudice, and we ought to be able to take that for granted.
'If they refused to fly this flag it wouldn't mean they supported
homophobia - it's just political correctness.
It's much better for them to say we just fly the Union Flag, otherwise
all sorts of groups will want them to fly their flags too.'
Mr Fahy said: 'We are determined to show our support for anyone who
feels they have been targeted because of their individuality.'
Other groups were welcome to propose their banners for special events,
his force added.

"No
injuries were reported," reports AP, "but the detentions could damage
Russia's desire to be seen as a modern nation as it holds the finals of
the Eurovision song contest, a cultural event televised around the
world.
"City officials had warned that they would not tolerate
marches or rallies supporting the rights of gays and lesbians, but
activists had targeted Moscow and the Eurovision contest to press their
claims that Russia officially sanctions homophobia."

Black actor 'in
the running' to play Frank Sinatra

Above: Frank Sinatra
and Jamie Foxx - it's hard to tell the difference isn't it?!
Foxx,
who won a Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal of Ray Charles in the 2004
film Ray, reportedly considered to be "perfect" for the role. If he is
chosen for the part, it will be one of the most prominent examples of
"colour-blind" casting in Hollywood history.
Also
in the running are George Clooney, Leonardo di Caprio, Harry Connick
Jnr and Justin Timberlake.
Jamie
would seem to be born to the role."
"Magnificent
singing voice, totally convincing acting ability, like Frank himself,
born the wrong side of the tracks, rags to riches, makes it big against
the odds, has his brushes with authority. The guy's a gift."
Foxx,
41, rose to prominence in 1999 in Oliver Stone's Any Given Sunday.
He
also boasts has a string of hit albums.
He
was adopted as a baby by his grandparents and raised a strict Baptist
in a racially-segregated Texan community.
Sinatra,
who was raised in New Jersey by Italian immigrants, also shot to fame
despite a hard upbringing during the Great Depression.
Scorcese
finally won the rights to make the film of Sinatra's life after years
of negotiations with his family.
Sinatra died in 1998 aged 82.

FLU SCOURGE HAS A PIG OF A NAME IF YOU'RE A JEW
It may be
called swine flu around the world, but a senior Israeli official has
changed the term in order not to pronounce the name of the animal whose
meat is banned by Judaism.
"We will use
the term Mexican flu in order not to have to pronounce the word swine,"
said Deputy Health Minister Yakov Litzman of the ultra-religious United
Torah Judaism party.
Eating pork
is prohibited by Judaism, the religion practised by the majority of
Israelis. Islam, adhered to by most of Israel's Arab minority, likewise
bans the consumption of pork.
Israel has
yet to confirm a case of the swine flu epidemic that is believed to
have killed more than 100 people in Mexico and has spread to the United
States and Europe.
A
26-year-old Israeli man who returned from Mexico has been hospitalised
and authorities are waiting for test results to determine whether he
has contracted the potentially deadly strain that the World Health
Organisation has warned could reach pandemic proportions.
Another man
who had recently returned from Mexico was quarantined after checking
himself into a hospital in the centre of the country complaining of a
sore throat, officials said.
The World
Organisation for Animal Health said that the name swine flu is a
misnomer as the deadly virus has origins among birds and humans as well
as pigs.
