NATIONALIST WEEK No.8
19th July 2004 The vanguard online bulletin of the Spearhead Group
RICHARD ROCKS ROCHDALE! – Wednesday 14th July
At a packed meeting with over ninety BNP members and other White
Nationalists in attendance, Richard Edmonds spoke to an enthusiastic
audience, mainly from Rochdale and Oldham but including BNP members
from Manchester and other areas. The Spearhead Group had a good
contingent present.
Richard reviewed the situation now rapidly unfolding within the BNP and
despite heckling from a small group antagonistic to Richard’s firm
principles of White Nationalism, the great majority of those present
gave Richard Edmonds a thundering ovation.
Kev Bryan, Rochdale BNP Organiser gained great respect for holding the
meeting with Richard as the main speaker as Mr.Griffin has banned both
Richard Edmonds and John Tyndall from speaking at any BNP meetings. Kev
defied this ban and a result of this he has been suspended from the
BNP. We are unclear at the moment as to whether this suspension also
extends to the whole of the Rochdale BNP.
It was great to renew acquaintances with comrades old and new, and
despite the tension caused by a small minority antagonistic to solid
White Nationalist principles, for the greater part, all Nationalists
present felt a sense of unity and solidity.
SECURITY
In the light of the BBC/ZOG fit up of the BNP in the “Secret Agent”
programme on Thursday 15th July, it is obvious that in a future
reformed party MUST have a much tighter internal security policy. Andy
King is building a good Internal Security Apparatus and has passed the
following to “Nationalist Week”: -
Dear supporters
If there is any persons within our group who are interested in joining
the SSG SECURITY TEAM then let us know. E-mail
andyking18wns@hotmail.com. No time wasters please as this is going to
be a serious initiative in the light of the Government Agencies
“expose” of the BNP on the despicable “Secret Agent” programme.
Andy
“Nationalist Week” fully supports Andy’s initiative and we saw the SSG
Security Team in action on Sunday 11th July at the big Leeds meeting,
which was totally trouble free as a result of their efforts.
Closing down of the BNP?
A statement by John Tyndall
Many BNP members and supporters will be shocked to hear a declaration
made yesterday by BNP chairman Nick Griffin that, due to action by
Barclays Bank to discontinue allowing the party to be an account
holder, the party is now faced with only three options: -
(a) Taking a number of expensive legal actions against the TMG
newspaper group, whose pressure on Barclays he claims resulted in the
latter's action. These actions would involve charges against TMG for
illegally obtaining bank documents. This, he says, quite possibly
correctly, would take a long time and would hold no certainty of
success.
(b) Closing down the BNP and reforming as another party with a new
constitution and new name.
(c) Moving all accounts offshore and continuing to function as a
lobby type of organisation but being unable to contest elections as a
political party because such banking procedure would be contrary to
the Electoral Commission's rules of registration.
In a statement of just over two pages Mr. Griffin outlines various
developments over the part few weeks which have led to this
situation. Because we are so much in the dark concerning these
developments and only have his word for them, it would be premature
to comment on them in detail or to venture any definite view about
what now can and should be done. Much more information will be
necessary before this is possible. Three points can nevertheless be
made at this stage, the first of which takes the form of a question.
These are: -
(1) We understand from Mr. Griffin and from some media reports that
some of the BNP accounts at Barclays have been frozen -- that is to
say that money cannot for the moment be taken out of them. This seems
a very strange procedure if, as claimed, the bank is merely declining
to do further business with the BNP out of consideration for its good
name as a trading group. It would have been thought that in that case
the normal procedure would be for the bank simply to say to the
BNP: "Take your money out and go!" Why are the accounts being frozen?
Possibly Mr. Griffin has a perfectly proper explanation for this, and
we wait to hear it.
(2) Part of Mr. Griffin's argument is that, as Barclays have
apparently been forced to take this action by commercial and
political pressure, it is almost certain that if the BNP merely
transfers its accounts to another bank the same pressures will be
brought against that bank, and so on until every bank in the country
refuses our custom.
I would need to obtain professional legal advice on this matter
before feeling able to refute that claim. However, one thing clearly
stands out from this: if the claim is correct and the BNP closed down
and reformed as another party, it would be no time before exactly the
same measures would be taken against that party, and we would be back
where we started.
(3) It seems strange, to say the least, that it is only a matter of
two or three weeks ago that Mr. Griffin was informing us of a threat
to stop the BNP operating as a political party on wholly different
grounds, namely our operation of a Whites-only membership rule. Mr.
Griffin then forecast that we would be de-registered by the EC if we
continued to maintain that rule -- a forecast for which there was not
the slightest backing and which I and several others knocked down
quite easily in various circulars, e-mails, letters and telephone
conversations and at meetings by saying that there was nothing to
prevent the BNP carrying on with its present membership policy until
new legislation (if it ever came) forced us to do otherwise.
Following this very powerful backlash there was a posting on the
BNP's website by his mother, Mrs. J. Griffin, acknowledging that this
could be a perfectly viable option. In other words, it seems as if
the immediate pressure to change our membership rules was dropped as
quickly as it arose.
Then, as now, Mr. Griffin presented the party with three possible
options to get around the alleged problem. The second option, and
clearly the preferred one, was for the BNP to cease business as a
political party and operate merely as a pressure or 'lobby' group.
In other words, the very same option as is now being suggested as one
of the solutions to the problem of bank accounts!
It rather looks as if Mr. Griffin, if he cannot find one acceptable
excuse to close the BNP down as a political party fighting elections,
will find another!
Just what is going on?
JOHN TYNDALL
Due to the long statement above we have had to hold back some items –
on our planned Free Speech Campaign and also initiatives to go all out
for a NO vote in the (hopefully!) Euro Referendum until next weeks
issue.
