PAEDOPHILE RETURNS TO UK
Convicted paedophile Robert Excell is on his
way back to Britain from Australia, Sky News has revealed.
The man, who is regarded as one of
Australia's worst child abusers, was put on a plane in Perth, Western
Australia this morning.
Sky News' Crime Correspondent Martin Brunt
said Excell is expected to land in London tomorrow morning.
Brunt said: "The Australian government has
felt they do not want to keep him."
Excell has spent nearly four decades behind
bars.
He was put in jail in Perth in 1965 for an
attack on a seven-year-old boy.
Since then he has been paroled three times
and reoffended on all three occasions.
There was outcry when it was announced that
Excell would be freed and brought back to the UK because of his poor
health.
Brunt said "there has been a wrangle for
many months" between Australia and the UK over Excell's future.
The paedophile's plans are not known but he
has the support of his wife, Maxine.
Psychologists have said he still poses a
"moderate" risk of reoffending.
The 66-year-old emigrated to Australia as a
child but never became a citizen.
He is expected to be put on the UK sex
offenders' register but he will not face parole terms.
