TINTIN
AND THE RACE ROW
A bookstore chain has been FORCED to
banish children's favourite Tintin to the adult section - because of
his "hideous racism"!
Bookshop chain 'Borders' has been condemned by the much loathed Commission for Racial Equality (makes you feel sick just saying it doesn't it?) for selling 'Tintin In The Congo', a 1931 story which it is claimed by the Politically Correct lunatics at the CRE, makes Black people 'look like monkeys and talk like imbeciles'. The bookstore chain will now stock the Belgian comic hero's books alongside adult graphic novels but is resisting demands to abandon them (well done 'Borders'! for standing up to these maniacs). Meanwhile Tintin experts are accusing the Commission of over-reacting. The books show Tintin as a globe-trotting correspondent, often in colonies of Belgium's old empire of which the Congo was part - it is now part of a number of 'emergent' African nations such as Zaire - some of the most disease ridden and econimically ruined areas of the world since the White Belgians kicked themselves out in their quest for liberalism. Some critics have also complained of Belgian author Herge's support for 'fascist causes' (Oh dear!) The Commission acted after being contacted by a lefty liberal 'Borders' customer who spotted, Thought Police style, the Congo edition of Tintin in a London branch last month. It said: 'This book contains imagery and words of hideous racial prejudices. How and why 'Borders' think it's OK to peddle (not sell?) such racist material? It was written a long time ago but this does not make it acceptable.' The views are of course backed by the lavishly funded quango "National Assembly Against Racism". Oliver Battrick, from Tintinologist magazine said "Herge's work should be viewed in the light of the inaccuracies and prejudices that would have existed in Belgian at the time. The current edition carries a red label explaining that some readers may find the colonial attitudes of the time offensive" So Tintin joins Golliwogs, Enid Blyton and Agatha Christie's "Ten Little Niggers" in the proscribed 'terrible' works of that most taboo subject White Racism! The madness of multi-racial Politically Correctness goes on - soon we may all be forced to assemble by some future Racial Thought Police to witness the burning of thousands of 'racist' childrens books!
