Dr TOBEN IS FREE! Fredrick Töben was released from jail in London today because the government dropped its appeal. He will return to Australia as quickly as possible. We can only guess at the British government's reasoning but here it is: 1. Long-run, the government had to lose because the application of the European Arrest Warrant to somebody who had broken no British law was clearly balmy. 2. The present Attorney General, Baroness Scotland, went on record unambiguously in 2003, in debate in the House of Lords, assuring that such an application would not be possible.
